Summary:
SKF Magnetic Bearings in Calgary has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to work in a world class team as a Journeyman Machinist. This role is for an organized self-motivated individual that thrives on excellence who can support high precision machining of magnetic bearing parts and assemblies. The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to performing daily machining, inspection, and assembly of magnetic bearings parts. The individual should have the ability to work collaboratively with the management and support teams to achieve the optimum performance in Quality, Cost, Service and Employee Satisfaction. This is an ideal position for a motivated individual who is interested in playing an active role in machining high quality parts on-time and within allocated times to support our sales for leading edge products in the oil & gas, semiconductor, medical and compressor industries.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings 2D/3D, blueprints, charts, and tables.
- Safely Operate metalworking machines in accordance with the related EH&S policies in order to fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, or fixtures.
- Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerances +/- 0.0005.”
- Support, maintain, or repair tools & equipment as per defined maintenance procedures.
- Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
- Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
- Verify dimensions of products and parts machined for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers.
- Create or modify manufacturing documents, drawings and specifications as required in accordance to the QMS.
- Comply, maintain and improve the current ISO 2015 processes and job specific work instructions.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal Journeyman Machinist Ticket.
- Journeyman Machinist with 5+ years’ experience as a machinist.
- Experience running and operating manual machines.
- Mechanical assembly in Industrial manufacturing experience.
- Able to be flexible and multi-task.
- WHIMIS, 5s, Lean manufacturing principles, single-point lesson, Kanban etc.
- Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft office tools.
- Excellent team participation skills and ability to work with people from diversified backgrounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
- Organized and Self-disciplined.
